Therapy for self-esteem and belonging

I'm an integrative psychotherapist offering in-person therapy in Edinburgh and online therapy in the UK.

Welcome

Dr. Solenn Cabrera

Counsellor & Psychotherapist | PsyD

I blend psychodynamic and person-centred perspectives in therapy. This means I attend to what arises in the here-and-now while exploring early life and the unconscious patterns that shape your current situation.

I work one-to-one with adults and young people over the ages of 14, and I offer therapy in French.

I hold a PsyD from the University of Edinburgh and a Postgraduate Diploma in Counselling & Psychotherapy (COSCA accredited).

Initial Meeting

Starting therapy and working with a new therapist can be daunting. To help you get a sense of whether we might be a good fit, I offer a free 20-minute intro call through Google Meet. It’s a chance for you to share a little about what’s bringing you here, ask any questions, and see how it feels to talk together before deciding on your next steps (ie. booking a session, referring you to a trusted colleague.)

If you’d prefer, you’re also welcome to come directly for an initial 50-minute consultation.

Weekly Sessions

Ideally, we’d work open-endedly towards your aims, with 50-minute weekly (or biweekly if needed) sessions at the same time and place to offer the consistency needed to build a good working relationship. In-person sessions will be held at my office in Leith or online over Google Meet.

Reviewing & Ideal Endings

Your progress and well-being are at the heart of our work together. Throughout therapy, we’ll regularly pause to reflect on how things are going, maybe looking at what’s been helpful, where we might focus next, and any challenges that have come up along the way. These check-ins help us make sure you’re getting the most out of your sessions and that our approach continues to meet your needs.

When the time comes to end therapy, we’ll work together towards an ending that feels right for you.

'nepantla' in counselling

Rooted in Nahuatl, the language of the Aztecs, nepantla means an "in-between space." It’s the state of being in transition, navigating the tension between worlds, identities, or phases of life.

In counselling, we find ourselves in nepantla moments—when life feels uncertain, relationships shift, or we’re searching for a sense of who we are. These spaces, though uncomfortable, are also where transformation can begin.
